During the visit, General Wojciechowski met with the leadership and staff of the NATO Force Integration Units (NFIUs) based in Bratislava and Székesfehérvár. These units have been operating since 2016 and followed the four pioneers established in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland in 2015.

The NFIUs provide Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast with their expertise, assistance and versatility. The Commander reaffirmed that they were fully functional to prepare the ground for the NATO Response Force if ever called upon. As such, the NFIUs boost synergy between the Alliance and the countries they reside in.

"It is vital that we foster our cooperation and exchange best-practice models whenever possible. I found these talks extremely productive, especially in terms of gaining a deeper insight into the development policies of the Slovak and Hungarian Armed Forces.” — General Wojciechowski concluded.

Thus, the subject was discussed both at the meeting with Lieutenant General Daniel Zmeko, the Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces, and at the meeting with Lieutenant General Gábor Böröndi, the Deputy Commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces. While at the General Staffs, the Commander was informed about the latest progressions within the Slovak and Hungarian militaries, which he considered beneficial – particularly in the context of preparing NATO exercises. Additionally, the General held discussions with Mr Róbert Ondrejcsák, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic.
