Allies enhance interoperability during exercise Wolverine Crossbow in Latvia

SZCZECIN, Poland - From 29 May to 4 June, at the Ādaži military training area, the enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battle Group Latvia together with Allied air forces conducted Wolverine Crossbow - a multinational exercise aimed at increasing NATO's deterrence and defence joint capabilities.

The main objective of the exercise was to increase the level of interoperability within eFP Battle Group Latvia and to validate capabilities of individual detachments to conduct effective indirect and direct fire. Eurofighter Typhoon fighters operating under Baltic Air Policing and Black Hawk helicopters were engaged in support of ground operations. Participants in the exercise included, among others, Canadian, Polish, Spanish and Italian detachments. Tasks were carried out by Polish PT-91 tanks, Leopard tanks, Pizarro infantry fighting vehicles, LAV and Coyote armoured personnel carriers and CENTAURO tank destroyers. The exercise allowed reviewing readiness of eFP BG logistic elements to secure combat operations.

In addition, the exercise was an excellent opportunity to improve the cooperation of eFP Battle Group Latvia soldiers during the execution of tasks in the international arena and to strengthen cohesion among allies.

The Wolverine Crossbow exercise confirmed the excellent preparedness of North Atlantic Alliance forces to take immediate action in any situation and to respond to a wide range of modern battlefield threats.
