SACEUR tours the Baltic States

SZCZECIN, Poland - On March 31, GEN Tod D. Wolters, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), concluded his tour to the Baltic States. While in the region, the General had a chance to look over Multinational Corps North East's (MNC NE) formations.

The SACEUR’s visit encompassed Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The General met with the Baltic States’ political and military leaders as well as with the Allied formations deployed in the region, including those of Multinational Corps Northeast.

While in Ādaži (Latvia), GEN Wolters spoke with LTG Sławomir Wojciechowski, Commander MNC NE, and MG Flemming Mathiasen, Commander Multinational Division North (MND N). Stationed in Ādaži, the new Headquarters is MNC NE’s most north-eastern division-level command. GEN Wolters appreciated the opportunity to be personally informed about the very recent progress the Division had made on their way to Full Operational Capability. He also met with the soldiers of the Canadian-led enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battle Group Latvia. Together with the eFP Battle Group Estonia, the unit will execute operations under the MND N control, supported by subordinate brigades.

The tour served GEN Wolters as a means to demonstrate NATO’s continued dedication to the north-eastern region, and to recognize the professionalism and proficiency of the Allied troops stationed in the Baltics.

NATO's missions in the Baltic States have proved to be very successful, and we express our solidarity. Soldiers from various Allied nations are serving shoulder to shoulder here, representing a tangible commitment to our collective defense, said GEN Wolters.
