Denmark's Prime Minister visits Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast

SZCZECIN, Poland - On 9 March, the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen paid an official visit to Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE). Ms Frederiksen reaffirmed Denmark's continued commitment to the Corps and NATO. Alongside Poland and Germany, Denmark is a founder and framework nation of HQ MNC NE.

During her visit to HQ MNC NE, the Prime Minister held talks with the Corps' Commander, LTG Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart, and flag officers. They discussed the current situation in the Baltic Sea region and looked into the major security challenges posed by Russia's unprovoked aggressive invasion of Ukraine. "Danish soldiers embody the core attributes of professionalism, integrity and commitment. I'm proud to have them on board. The Danish commitment brings more security to the region."

Denmark substantially contributes to ensuring the security of the Baltic region.  In March, the Danish Army will deploy to Estonia as part of the previously scheduled rotation at the Tapa-based enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battlegroup. Additionally, Denmark helms Headquarters Multinational Division North in Ādaži, Latvia. Attached to the MNC NE chain of command, this divisional headquarters will coordinate activities of the eFP Battlegroups and their Host Nations' brigades in Estonia and Latvia. Besides eFP, Denmark is an important contributor to NATO's Baltic Air Policing, and is present in the Baltic with its naval assets which operate in a deterrent role under NATO's command.
