Panther Battalion assumes command of NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup Poland

SZCZECIN, Poland – On September 21, NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battlegroup Poland held a transfer of authority ceremony from the U.S. Army 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division to the U.S. Army 2nd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment “Panther Battalion”, 3rd Infantry Division. The ceremony took place on the grounds of the Bemowo Piskie Training Area, northeastern Poland.

The 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment had been at the helm of the Battlegroup in Poland since February 2023, leading multinational troops from Croatia, Romania, the U.S. and the U.K. The incoming 2nd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment “Panther Battalion” is assigned to the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division which mission in Europe is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, working alongside NATO allies and regional security partners. In his inaugural address LTC Timothy Decker, the Battlegroup's new commander, stated:

We are always prepared, we are stronger together, and Panthers always win.

With the United States as the Framework Nation, the multinational Battlegroup is integrated into the Polish 15th Mechanised Infantry Brigade.
