NATO soldiers foster bonds with local communities in Poland and Lithuania

SZCZECIN, Poland — Recently, soldiers from NATO Multinational Battlegroups in Poland and Lithuania spent time integrating with local youth through engaging and educational activities. Community outreach events play a pivotal role in fostering understanding between the military and the public.  These initiatives not only provide an opportunity for young people to interact with soldiers but also create lasting bonds of trust and friendship.

In Lithuania, a unique event organized by the Civic Resilience Initiative combined a scavenger hunt with military insights. The participants had the chance to engage in critical thinking and teamwork while also learning from soldiers who provided valuable field experience. The soldiers manned stations, shared their knowledge, and created an atmosphere of openness and dialogue, reinforcing the idea that the military is part of the community, not separate from it.

Meanwhile, in Poland, US service members at the Ełk Cultural Center showed children their military gear and also shared light-hearted moments. Through cooking, dancing, and playing board games together, both soldiers and local children enjoyed each other’s company, demonstrating how these outreach events can foster a sense of unity, fun, and mutual respect.
